prep for floor tiling kitchen?
ive just nearly finished tiling bathroom but already thinking about the kitchen thats to get done.
my kitchen floors are the crappy chipboard floors, theres a few bits that sink under my feet, i was thinking of using the 15mm ply but when looking at the fitted units (i wont be taking em out just ending the tiles under the kick panels
the prob is if i use 15mm them the white goods wont sit under the worktops as theres only a gap of abt 15mm,
anyone any suggestions ?

Re: prep for floor tiling kitchen?
the floors will be like the bathroom ones, i had to replace a few boards, they fell short of the joists, the t&g was nailed to joist and where the other board met it , it was hanging on and the joint where the 2 meet was the sag point.
the floor seems to start in 1 room and run into another , so half board is on kitchen others in hallway ., what do u recomend?

Re: prep for floor tiling kitchen?
yeah its all downstairs and its all chipboard on joists , apart from where some join thats not on joists
but once i fix the damaged bits how do i line the floor without using 15mm ply so i can get the white goods back in place

Re: prep for floor tiling kitchen?
As long as you can get in solid...then overboard with hardibacker 6mm....keeps the height down and is excellent base to tile too, better than direct to chipboard.

Re: prep for floor tiling kitchen?
i was thinking that , get it prep it and then tile to it , tiled bathroom, looks ok, ran out line at top of room, but walls arent straight.
need to grout tmoz, once a tile was down i couldnt lift the thing , it was solid after 30 secs, i could move it back and forth though.
now to try drill holes for the pan to attach to ground , that will b fun lol
