    Unhappy Aquamix vs Sealguard

Used aquamix grout sealer on biege grout after running out of sealguard. The aquamix left residual staining on the tile at either side of the joint which I cant remove. It also darkened the grout. Sealguard on the other hand left no stains and didnt darken the grout. Only thing with sealguard is you need a mask.

You can actually get sealguard in liquid and not just aerosol...

The aqua mix must have been enrich $ seal was it and if so then it does darken the grout....would you not have been better waiting and getting some more seal guard , rather than mixing products..

I have never used aqua mix products and not sure if it can be removed from the grout.

We have a few members who use thier products , so if he pop back maybe one will reply and help you out..

The aquamix product was grout sealer. Upon closer inspection it hasnt darkened the grout but it has put a shiny laquer on the grout giving the appearance of darkening. Sealguard leaves the grout waterproof without laquering.

I have tried thinners to remove the laquering to either side of the grout line. It works, but will thinners have a detrimental affect on the porcelain tile?

    regards

You will be better getting aqua mix sealing and coating remover....thinners might discolour the grout.

    TEST A SMALL AREA:
According to application instructions with a 24-hour cure time
to determine desired results. Test for stain repellency using likely
    contaminants.
    APPLICATION:
1.) Read entire label before using.
    2.) SHAKE WELL before using.
3.) For new installations, sealer can be applied as soon as 2 hours after
    grouting.
4.) Grout joints must be clean, dry, and free of existing sealers or
    coatings.
5.) Invert can and point nozzle toward the grout, keeping nozzle 10”-16”
(25 cm to 41 cm) from the surface.
6.) Depress nozzle and spray along grout lines. Some sealer will get on
the tile, which will evaporate without the need to wipe dry. NOTE:
Be sure any sealer that does not penetrate surface is removed from
surface within 5 mminutes of application using absorbent paper or
    cotton towels.

7.) If 2 or more coats are applied, allow a minimum of 30 minutes drying
time between coats. Be careful not to directly rub fresh grout if sealer
is applied same day as grout.
8.) After 2 hours conduct a test to determine if surface is completely
sealed by applying water droplets to the surface. If water is absorbed,
apply an additional coat. Wait 2 hours and repeat the test.
9.) Ready for surface traffic 2 hours after final coat. Keep area dry for 12
hours. Achieves full cure in 24 hours.
    10) May be reapplied as needed to grout joints that are clean.

I had no issues with the sealguard aerosol. The issue I had was with aquamix grout sealer leaving residue either side of the grout line and also darkening the grout line.
I have since found out that the recommended cleaner for removing the residue is aquamix Poultice Stain Remover.

Yes, I followed instruction above for sealguard.

    regards

The main mistake then was to mix the sealers
