Which Mapei do I use?
As I normally use Bal supplied from my local tile supplier, I was hoping to try Mapei for my next job but am unsure which breed to get. My local tile shop only sell Bal and Granfix addy's. The tiles are plain white ceramic going onto a main wall plastered and a plasterboard wall with shower on. The tiles will not be going full height and the customer does not want any finishing strips so the job will allways look unfinished. imo!!!
I will probably apply an S.R.B. Bond to both walls but need to know if this is neccessary..
Please advise me what Mapei breed I need to use and I will get my local tile supplier to order it in. I know they sell the Mapei grout so getting the addy should be no problem.
Thanks in advance for you suggestions..
Neil

Re: Which Mapei do I use?
Adesilex P9 is quite popular for walls. It is a slow set so gives you abit more working time. You would need to prime the plaster, but the plasterboard wouldn't need priming
If you want a rapidset, then Mapeker or Keraquick could be used. Again, you would need to prime the plaster, but not the plasterboard
Depending on the tile size, you could use a dispersion addy if you wanted. Mapestik D1 is pretty good and cheap to trade, although Mapegrip D2 is better. No need to prime with dispersion addy

Re: Which Mapei do I use?
Do you have a problem with bal/granfix? can't see the point in going to the trouble of ordering adhesive in if what you already use is ok and your happy with the price.

Its good to try different products so no harm in it,you'll soon find out what you like and trust! thats what matters as well as competitive pricing.

Neil - Although I use Mapei (still waiting for another 't' shirt) its because its readily available and competitively priced.
If your happy with BAL and I used it fot 20 years or so without any problems than stick to what you know. If you can wait for it to come in fine, any suggested will be ok.
John.

Re: Which Mapei do I use?
I've been trying a number of different adhesives recently to try and find what they are all like. I've used Ultra, Weber, Bal and Mapei. I've had no issues with any of them. I've got to admit that Mapei adesilex p9 has been my favourite wall adhesive that i've used so far.
