    Default Adhesive advice

Wonder if anyone could help me out with a bit of a dilemma I have. I'm tiling a bathroom with 600 x 300 x 10 thk ceramics. I've read a lot of posts on this forum and looked at a few tech data sheets for various adhesives. I decided to go for BAL CTF3. However when I went to Topps they didn't stock this (although it was available from their website) so I was talked into taking the BAL Rapidset instead. The main difference appears to be the working time - CTF3 has 6 hours, Rapid is 40 mins. Man at Topps says the CTF3 is 'specialist' stuff and fifficult to work with but I'm not sure, as a mere amateur I'll be able to manage with a 40 min working time. Hopefully they will do an exchange but I'm worried about the 'difficulty' of working with CTF3. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Somebody is trying to pull a fast one I think. Go back and change it for the CTF 3, it will be fine...as long as it is appropriate for your walls. What is the substrate?

you do need a powdered "single part flexible" adhesive Petrol. You should be ok with the rapid set if you mix in small quantities at a time. Make sure your room is prepared properly prior to starting tho'. There's lots of advice on the forums to help you with this. Any problems, just ask, somebody is nearly always available to partake advice

Doug, id still take it back. As a novice I would have wasted alot of rapid set tiling a bathroom wall. Beast get stuff with long pot life, just easier all round and less mixing.

Thanks for this advise guys - I'll see if I can get the Rapidset changed for the CTF3. W.r.t. the substrate, I'm tiling onto AquaPanel around bath/shower and newly fitted plasterboard elsewhere with a small section of older skimmed plasterboard (not ideal I know) above & around door frame. Plaster & plasterboard have been primed with BAL Primer.

    Hi...

Change it for the single part flexible....much better than the ctf3 and rapid set( to fast setting for newbies)...On walls i would advise you to use a flexi on the larger tiles...CTF3 isn't flexible, it is just a standard C1 adhesive.
