Only thing I can think of is it sets faster than fast, as most Mapei grouts do, test as your going.![]()

Hello BDS.
Mapei Jasmin 130 and Beige 132 some of the best grouts you'll ever use!
Used 130 for 3-4 years now on travertine and its very good. It comes in 5kg bags and you only need to mix enough for 15-20 mins because it goes off quite quick in the bucket. Mix it well because there tends to be a few bits of dark colour to thoroughly mix in. Gently add the water as it doesn't seem to paste up straight away but suddenly does - when youv'e mixed it once you'll understand what I've just said. Use up all your mixed grout on the walls before you start to wash off because any left will go off, but what you put on the walls (within reason) will come off nicely with a couple of washes.
Don't forget you must seal the travertine before grouting - let dry - grout - and when completely clean and dry - seal again.
Good luck.

being a regular BAL user not used many of mapei`s gear, the odd addy or slc starting to use more and more now,but thought i`d try this as the customer liked the colour for her trav tiles, cheers john i dont always seal tiles first, depends on tiles/situation etc, i work very clean anyway (its the OCD in me)

use ultracolour all the time, superb gear![]()

Only thing to watch is after you have mixed it and let it 'rest' for a few minutes, when you give it another quick mix, it goes slightly 'runnier' than it was, not much, but enough to create a couple of threads on here!
My choice of grout every time

I use Mapei ultracolour on all my mosaics that demand coloured grouts, got the black and the green, and agree with all of John's and the others' posts. The going off so quickly can be a real nuisance, but then you don't work with piddly little things like I do...but the stability of colour and strength in all weathers is amazing. The gecko on the rock with the the black grout on my website has survived two coastal winters, hail, frost, rain, sun, you name it..and I just checked it again the other day, it's great - and I never even sealed it at the time.![]()

BDS .
Before you seal the travertine make sure its clean and dry!
Try Sovereign stone seal it smells like nail varnish remover but seals without a sheen and you can grout when dry.
To seal a honed travertine before you grout makes it clean off the tile surface much easier, don't take it off too soon as it can recess the joints a bit if you do, and if you leave it a bit too long well... that's experience!
