Default Is bonding plaster same as browning for tiling on?

    Hi all,

Just read a couple of threads about not tiling onto browning undercoat plaster and it should be finishing plaster.

Is bonding plaster the same as browning plaster or have I mixed things up?

Just want clarification as I know the chased runs for the shower pipework in the bathroom I will be tiling has been made good with bonding plaster.

    Cheers Si

although bonding is more dense than browning it should still not be tiled directly onto essexi

they are backing plasters as is hardwall, none of them should be tiled onto, if you have to plaster and it's deep, use one coat it can go 25mm and it's a finishing plaster so you can tile onto it.

Thank you both for confirming what I thought.
The making good has already been done so I think I will need to get the areas skimmed.

    Cheers for your help Si

Keep in mind the type of tiling that is go onto the plaster. If you are using large format porcelain, or stone - the weight consideration has to be judged. The skim can only take approx 20kg per m2. Tiles plus adhesive for m2 weight going onto background.

Cheers CBTC, I will bear that in mind.
I do not think/hope that my sister has anything other than ceramic in mind.
