what size notched trowel in the
Tile Adhesive, Grout and Substrate Preparation at TilersForums;
Im putting up 31x45 ceramic wall tiles - would a 5mm sq notched trowel be ok for the adhesive, sorry about all the questions but doing a job for mother ... -

I would use around an 8mm one...

8mm or 10mm, will chew up the adhesive but would help with any blemishes in the wall. Failing that you could put them up just using your primer, this way they would just be resting against the wall and hopefully when your mother-in-law strips off to jump in the shower they would all fall off and bury her.
This would end the mother-in-law problem cos you know that however you do it she aint gonna be happy lol
8mm or 10mm mate..... Good luck
