    Default Buildfix Adhesive

Buildfix Single Part Super Flexible Adhesive Grey 20kg, 8022452048074

I got the above, 12 sq m to floor tile

I want to do say 1 metre at a time

    8 mill ceramic tile

whats the best mix? does colour of adhesive matter?, sandy colour tile, gray adhesive

laid onto ply 12 mill, do you prime ply first or is that in the adhesive?

    cheers

Might have been better using white SPF rather than grey ,reason being that the grey might show through to the surface of a light tile whereas the white doesnt. You should be able to mix small quantities at a time and i personally would prime but read the instructions from the manufacturer.Make sure ply is screwed downevery 200 - 250mm and make the floorboards secure firstly.

    Hooly.
Its a flexible adhesive so should not need to prime the plywood.
Grey is fine for Ceramic tiles but make sure you clean out the joints before grouting in case its a different grey to the grout grey.
You'll need more than 1 bag of adhesive for 12sq mts even if you've got a perfectly flat floor. To solid bed fix 2-3 bags. Have fun!

    Prime with what?

Its does not say on the pack about priming, I thought that's what the flexible meant

I saw some ad mixes, but not for the one i got, for the uni bond brand adhesives

gray was all they had, b n q, never again

cheers, whats the consistency i'm looking for when mixing

it says 2 to 5 kg to a metre, is that depending on bed thickness, may do 10 mill u trowel

mapei primer g is what i use,the grey should be ok,its just better to use white adhesive on light tiles but im sure you will be ok with the grey, work clean ,cleaning grout lines of grey adhesive, especially if you are using a light grout.

Buildfix is by mapei.....The adhesive you have chose is the same as keraflex maxi..

You do not need to prime the face side of ply with mapei cement adhesives...

Here is the pdf for keraflex maxi..

Yes....Prime with an SBR type primer..

Prime the back face and edges to prevent moisture from distorting the boards...

Do you tile right up to the skirting's, or leave a grout gap, using 4 mill spacers.

or tile up to and seal with silicone?

took piths off, and tile just under?

does the ply under need a small gap around the edges? all set to go, just need a tile cutter

8 mill floor tiles, mainly straight cuts, ceramic tiles, slight ripple, b nq budget type

any cutter to recommend, wont be used a lot!! just get me through this job, and maybe 1 more..

ive had a pocket for years and can reccomend, handy for working in tight spaces

only downside is the measurement strip is very short and the guide is an extra but as i dont use either it hasnt been an issue

the star is slightly wider and doesnt fold both will cut 500

something to consider with the larger format tiles in use today
I know nothing I havent learnt
