Hi all, I am undertaking a bathroom refurb (pics will be posted this time) i have come across a problem with the window reveal, the customer has supplied me with 250x400mm bumpy white ceramics and the trim they provided was a Homelux 10mm ceramic effect bullnose trim, when i tried to measure up the reveal the trim didnt cover the cut tiles as they vary in thickness when cut (due to the bumpy effect) this would leave exposed cut edges around the reveal(not nice) they then went and purchased a 12.5mm Homelux white trim which in turn had too much of an overhang around the cut tile edges. i'm at a loss as to what to do...

Basically the 10mm trim seems too small and the 12.5mm trim too large.

What do you good people do in this situation.? Tiling a full reveal with bumpy white tiles which are approx 9mm thick (doesnt say on box) but when cut are thicker in places as previously mentioned.

I'm sure i got hold of a 11mm trim before or it might have been 11.5mm. Cant find this size for love nor money.?


Any other solutions .?

if they wont fit into the 10mm trim build out the tile in the reveal to fit into the 12.5 mm i dont think there is a 11mm trim out there

My advice is definitely use 12.5mm trim and then underneath the tile where there's a bit of a gap between tile + trim build it up with extra adhesive and you can then get the top edge of tile exactly where you want it to against the trim

Put the cut edge to the window frame....no sharp edge then... and the profile should be ok..

Thanks for your help so far, yes in the window reveal i have put the cut edge to the frame, my problem is the main wall the reveal is on, i have cut tiles butting up to the trim and 4 'L' shaped cut tiles in the corners, these have different thicknesses due to the bumpy tile.

If i sit the trim on top you will still see the cut edge sligtly, or to hide the cut edge you need to put it into the trim which leaves an overhang of trim.

Still confused .................

On bumpy whites etc...you will aways get some over hang of trim.... just do your best to make it neat..

better off to have tile trim over hanging cut edge of tile tile edges sharp

cut edge to frame yes but you should have a already factory made beveled tapered edge to go to the trim. im assuming you're trying to put a cut edge to the trim thats why its to thick. get the beveled edge to the trim.

I think he is on about the L cut around the face side of the window wall, the tiles have a bumpy finish so the trim does not sit flush along it;s length...then you fit in the reveal tiles...

ok ok. lol why did'nt i see that the first time i read it. If poss show an explain what and why to the client first.
never done this but just an idea. Get the trim as neat as poss touch up the exposed tile with some white rad paint helps to dull the glare of the red/orange then grout as usual. Not ideal i know but the overall job should deter the eye, probably wouldnt notice til it's pointed out

Thanks Dave, That is the way i have done it before, it just seems that these particular tiles are very bumpy. Like you all say i will point it out to the customer and then do my best.
