Post Which adhesive and grout for stainless steel tiles

Hi new member on here so be gentle! Just bought 4mm stainless steel tiles and was wondering what is the best adhesive to use to put them onto a plasterboard wall in the kitchen? Have seen a couple of Unibond products in B & Q and also a couple in Screwfix. Am unsure of what method to use also. As the tiles are hollow ie not flat on the back do i just need to put the adhesive onto the wall first or on the back of the tile. Lastly and sorry for making this so long winded what grout am I best using. We want a grey grout but when ive looked on Unibond tub it says not to use it on metal finishes. Website where I bought tiles from says that a normal ceramic tile grout should be ok. So what im asking is what adhesive should i use and what grout should i use. Was hoping to tile etc on easter sunday and bank holiday monday for my sins so some ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Can you explain what an S2 grade adhesive is and what a fine sanded grout is. Can i but these from B&Q or do i need a specialist supplier?

S2 is a fast setting higly deformable cement based adhesive and is suitable for sticking to metal surfaces...

A fine sanded grout is one with a less gritting consistency and is less likely to scratch the tiles...suitable for glass and highly polished tiles and needs to be polymer modified for increased adherence ....Hope that helps better...

Both products are available from mapei and i can get links if you wish...

They are 4mm stainless steel fom slicksteel.co.uk. Fully stainless. i see screwfix sell mapei products but they are powder to be mixed. Can i be lazy and get adhesive and grout to use straight from a tub.

Sorry mate but NO...they will not hold them...

Ring Mapei technical and they will recommend a slow setting one.... +44-121-5086970

I think keraquick and latex plus mix will set too fast for you...

So im basically knackered. Thought these tiles seemed too good and easy to be true. I thought just normal extra grip unibond adhesive would have done. The tiles are really light in weight. Thanks for your help and advice.

It's not the weight of the tiles it's what they are made of.....you need an adhesive that will bond to them...

Ive just checked the guys website where i got them from and he says to just use standard adhesive and grout. Think i'll give him a ring and see what he recommends.

    Ok just checked his site....

    He states this>>>
The tiles have a MDF backing and are designed for easy fitting to most surfaces with a good quality waterproof “No Nails” type adhesive.
stainless steel wall tiles and his has fitting info on site... http://slicksteel.co.uk/fitting.html

Now that is totally different fixing method...thats why i asked if they were solid steel..????

I noticed that myself but the ones we have are the 4mm stainless steel only ones at the top of the page. If you click on the link it takes you to those tiles instead of the mdf backed ones. Its in that page where it says to use just normal adhesive and grout
