Default ??mm Adhesive Range for Natural Slate Tiles ?

    Hi, Please Advise.
I plan to lay Slate Tiles on my concrete kitchen floor, I'm a novice and am doing my homework. The slate is 600x400mm and the depth ranges from 8mm to 22mm, obvious this means the advesive will need to be up to 20mm thick in areas, is this ok ? also butter the back of the tile? Many Thanks

you would be cheaper and easier using a sand and cement screed, however these tiles are probably not cheap and i would consider employing a professional to do the job,as the tiles will need sealing properly, layed in a clean manner and levelled at the end using a feather bolster, also a professional will be able to advice if you will need to use colour enhancer on the tiles to give a better look!
