re grout after plumber
Hi all, iv got to do a re grout on a job after plumber cocked it up, i work with him but was sick last week so he grouted it. its on a slate affect porcelane tile, grout is Bal charcoal and has been washed out so went wite, been told that on half the room a protective sealer was put down and this is were the grout has gone blue in patches, its on a floor and does have under floor heating,
does any one use a different grout that does not wash out as bad as i am not going to use the grout supplied
cheers all.

Re: re grout after plumber
Mapie for me it is colour consistant and easy to apply on floors.
I must add though Mapie grout is tricky to apply on walls if no experience with it.
As Kilty55 says PCI is also a decent grout just I prefer Mapie cos of colour consistancy

Re: re grout after plumber
I favour Ardex and Mapei grouts, but have used BAL Charcoal to good effect.
Don't mix it too wet, I prefer my grout slightly stiff as I find I can work it into the joints better.
Make sure that you leave it to properly go off before washing down (check the bag for their suggested times.
Wash once with your washboy to remove the worst of the excess, let it "crust" over, then wash again using plenty of clean water.
You may need to wash a few further times, but let it dry properly between washes and you should be fine.
Don't try to do it too quick.
If it's a floor, make sure your using superflex grout (if you go the BAL route otherwise you will have problems with it cracking and / or not working at all).
