Hardie Backer Board Adhesive
Hi
I am using Mapei Keraquick flexible adhesive to apply tiles in my bathroom.
Prior to this I am going to fix hardie backer board to a solid wall. Can I use the same adhesive to bond the backer board to the brick (together with permanent fixings)?
Thanks
Chris

Re: Hardie Backer Board Adhesive
No probs there, keraquick on the walls?? you must need it done quick, lol.
I use keraflex on the walls mostly, keeps fresh in tub for hours, less mixing and more time to cut etc.

Re: Hardie Backer Board Adhesive
you want to use a rapid setting anyway...just mix enough to do a board at a time...

Re: Hardie Backer Board Adhesive
Ah - useful!
Would that combination of hardibacker board and keraquick be suitable for outdoor fixings? For a mosaic fixed onto a brick garden wall?

Re: Hardie Backer Board Adhesive
Another question...would backerboard be ok for steps also?i know it would be expensive but its an alternative to sand/cement and waiting for it to dry.

I THINK IT MIGHT CRACK.Iknow hardi samples are a piece of board in a plastic encase filled with water..to prove its water proof.

when you guys mention rapid setting cement, do you refer to something like postcrete or do you add a frost proofer rapid hardener type additive, or just a cement powder that's rapid hardening?
