    Question Tile on tile

I have a friend who has not registered and asked if i could ask a question for him!! He is tiling on an already tiled kitchen floor and has identified a Unibond technik rapid flexible at a good price.
Has anyone used this and how do you rate it plus would this be adequate for the job!!

    Many Thanks

Wouldn't really recommend any Unibond product. They are aimed at the DIY market primarily and not trade, in my opinion.

Check out adhesives from Mapei, Ardex or BAL if they are available in your area.

Also not a good idea to tile on tile unless you are SURE that the substrate is sound and that the current tiles are already well fixed.

    Take the old tiles up.

    1) keeps floor levels in check
    2) you know that the new tiles will be well stuck to the floor
    3) there may be some reaction between the old tiles or what's on them and the adhesive that you haven't thought about.

definately remove tiles and DEFINATELY DONT use unibond. check out your local tile distributer most are open to the public and will be able to give you the right adhesive for your tiles, type of floor etc.
