hi guys,

working over here in cyprus, and the major fault is tiles lifting with the heat, 30-45 degrees in the summer, the tilers don't seem to seal the floors, at the moment i'm useing goldstar pva, as a sealer, they seem to be ok, i've done quite a few jobs with no problems so far, any thoughts on anything better, and we don't have the benefit of all the materials that you guys have..

So their you go PVA a no no their is plenty of info on why not to use it on this site. What makes of addy do you get out there? Here in Spain we work with similar temps in the summer but our addy is designed to cope with it it tells you no need to dampen down only in exceptional circumstances which is normaly wind drying things to quick. Good quality cured conc shouldnt need priming but if it does follow the makers instructions. perhaps some of our Aussi friends can help us out on this one.

thanks guys for the advice, the concrete screed they use is a very sandy base and just falls apart at the slightest contact, there you go developers doing jobs as quick as they can and as cheap as poss...

Well thats the problem then. What use will a sealer be ?
Do the job right and do it once.

cheers for that, the problem i have is dusting and chalking prior to tiling any more thoughts would be welcome as it's a problem i've not come across before..
