Help!! tiling outside balcony.
hi, have a dilemma. went to quote a job to tile a balcony. problem is they have recently painted it with a weathershield roof repair black paint. as we all know we can not tile onto any sort of bitchamen coating....thats if it is bichamen! 80% has to be removed.
I gave BAL a call he suggested to overboard the balcony and then waterproof it with some sort of fibreglass. He wasn't that clear on what i should use, and where to get hold of this stuff.
Can any one please help???
thanks

Re: Help!! tiling outside balcony.
See if you can make sure it is concrete first......don't want to be using wood outside...

Re: Help!! tiling outside balcony.

Re: Help!! tiling outside balcony.
It can be removed...just need to know wots underneath first....but there are other methods as well...
As wetdecs mentioned but not ply .... A cement backerboard then uncoupling membrane..just depends on height issues..and drainage..

Re: Help!! tiling outside balcony.
how would you remove the coating?
if not, how would you fix the backerboard?
height and drainage not an issue. it slopes quite nicely.

Re: Help!! tiling outside balcony.
how would you remove the coating?
This depends on how thick it is and wot else there is and wot is onto.
if not, how would you fix the backerboard?
This can be screwed and plugged with appopiate fixings for external use
height and drainage not an issue. it slopes quite nicely.
Also schluter make systems specifically for balconies.....if you want alink just ask..
