Re: mapei primer g
Depends what adhesive you are going to use, some Mapei adhesives don't need sealing, some potted gear do.

Re: mapei primer g
You would be better using a synthetic primer ian.....
SBR Bonding/Admix agent - (Everbuild)

(Do not be tempted to use cheaper PVA which moisture breaks down)
SBR Bond is a latex based - Highly suited for priming areas before tiling
Water resistant bonding/priming agent and admixture for use in areas subject to humidity, dampness and continuous water contact
Improves water resistance of cement mixtures by forming a reinforcing polymer that increases long term durability and flexibility of the mix on renderings and floor screeds adhesive etc.
Can be diluted up to 3:1 with water - follow instuction on bottle
Size: 5 litre
Price: £11.99 £13.79 Including VAT at 15%

Re: mapei primer g
Hi
primer g is not designed for priming plywood. It is primarily for priming gypsum based substrates and anhidryte screeds prior to tiling.
See below...
Synthetic-resin-based water dispersion primer.
Applications:
Treating gypsum or anhydrite surfaces prior to applying cement-based products (Kerabond, Ultraplan, Nivoplan, etc.). Treating cement-based surfaces (cast concrete and prefabricated walls etc.) prior to laying gypsum-based plasters. The substrate must be clean and absorbent.
Dilute Primer G with water from 1:1 to 1:3 to protect old porous floors before levelling, to prevent residual dusting and to provide even absorption of substrates prior to levelling or laying. Apply on perfect dry gypsum or anhydrite surfaces (residual moisture content less than 0.5%). Coverage
100-200 g/m2 depending on use. Packaging
25 - 10 - 5 kg drums and 12x1 kg packs.

Re: mapei primer g
now I think, if you were going to use any Mapei Primer on wood it would be Eco Prim T. I use this on plywood prior to self levelling over UFH. It is designed to help the SLC and also adhesives adhere to the plywood. Also suitable for other substrates.

You seal the back and sides so need something to keep the moisture out!
