30x30 Sirimone mosaic group/seal help
hi all
need a little help with regards a downstairs toilet i have tiled
tiled one feature wall with these mosaics using bal whitestar
bathroom and kitchen tiles, floor and wall tiles, marble tiles at Armatile Ireland
im not sure but im guessing its a mix of marble and travertine , the marble mosaics seem to be quite smooth , while others are rough with holes in them
looks to me like the grout has filled the holes in the above picture
should i be doing that too?
also i have fixed them without sealing so far , should i seal before grouting , or will these weaken grout adhesion?
better to seal when finished? i have lithofin colour enhancer which says it protects from water , this enough or should i be using stain stop?
lastly considering the above tiles , which are wall mounted in my case , what group would you recomend , mapei ultracolour limestone?
sorry for all the questions , just need pointed in the right direction on this

Re: 30x30 Sirimone mosaic group/seal help
The grout should fill all the little holes in the unfilled travertine. You should ideally seal before grouting and this won;t affect your adhesive bond. If you use lithofin colour enhancer, you'll probably need to put stainstop over the top of it.
Lithofin now do a stainstop with built in colour enhancer.
Mapei don;t do a grout called limestone....the best colour from their ultracolour range would be jasmine which is an ivory/creamy colour.

If you seal before grouting, will the grout still hold to the Travertine, filling the holes?

Grout then seal but work clean to avoid any grout haze which may remain

If you seal first then the grout will not hold in the pitted sections of the tiles....they are designed to filled with grout...so deffo grout first then seal.......make sure they are clean and dry before sealing.....

im seeing the sense in this reply , cheers dave
just a little confusing as there are others who say seal before laying , seal before grout etc..

im thinking it would be impossible to work clean as i basically have to smooth the grout over the entire job , get the grout into all the holes
im guessing i try to clean as much off with the float initially then clean as much as poss with a damp spongue after 20 mins?
this grouting buisness is turning out more tricky then the laying
