pre tile advice
just abit of advice before starting a job tomorrow. wont be tiling tomorrow but replacing suite and doing the prep work. bought the same adh as i used last time keraflex maxi. it is superb to work with. did brother in laws and didnt prime. do i really need to prime. would i be able to use bal bond. i know i am cross branding but does it really make a difference as they must nearly all have the same composition
does anyone else prime as the impression i got in the tile shop that people rarely do.
thanks in advance ian

Re: pre tile advice
I think you will find that most regular contributors to this forum prime almost all of the time. In all honesty, it depends on the adhesive manufacturers recommendations but generally priming won't have a detrimental effect and one of the major benefits I found about priming and it is not often mentioned on here is how easy it is to clean your wall off of excess adhesive after you have fixed your course and want to put a level across it. A quick scrape with the trowel and a wipe over with your sponge and the wall looks like it never had adhesive on it, even after a few minutes. Try that with unprimed plasterboard!
