Hi Guys
Would like to know how to measure a substrate is flat or uneven? Is this figure related to the maximum variation of adhesive? What standards if any does this apply to?

Re: Level Walls
Over what distance Dave? Should you always do a wall or floor check when measuring up?

Re: Level Walls
You will be able to tell by eye soon. Places to look in walls are running to corners, floors, ceilings, around windows etc. Generally the main part of the wall are decent!
Floors, running to wall joints, doors, rad pipes etc.
If it doesnt look straight it aint, if it dont look flat it aint and will generally need some form of prep. The bigger the tiles the less you can hide, especially if they are rectified.

Re: Level Walls
Painted walls or polished plastered walls. Use a paint scraper to remove flakey paint ot worse still loose plaster. I use my fein to rough up any polished surfaces.
Use sugar soap to clean off residual wallpaper paste...its a bugger to tile over.
Prime then tile using powdered gear
