If you used bagged is it all the time ?
How much to mix up at a time ?
Do you not find this slows you down having to mix all the time ?

Re: adhesive
99% of the time it is bagged for me........and no doesn't slow me down...only 2 mins to do a mix.....

Re: adhesive
Hi there, i personally use mapei addys, mapei keraflex is what i'd use on walls, the maxi version will build to more depth too if needed.Evostick OPF is also great i find. These will keep for a few hours no prob in bucket so you can put plenty on in that time if you have good run of wall or whatever.

Re: adhesive
I always use bagged. Unless it's a really small job, or a rush job, I use adhesive with really long bucket life, so I can mix large batches.

Re: adhesive
Bagged for me too for everything now. I find it grips better and cleans off much easier.

Re: adhesive
I usually use bagged on walls. If I'm sticking one day and grouting another, I will usually use a flexible standard set so that I can knock up a decent bucket before lunch, then another after that way it doesn't really eat into my working time.

Re: adhesive
tubbed for kitchen splash backs, bagged for bathroom walls. although i do carry a bit of both in the van just incase

Re: adhesive
Bagged on anything apart from the odd kitchen splashback where the customers garden / drive etc isnt really suitable for mixing.

Re: adhesive
Can i ask the members who use powdered adhesive...why you use it all the time?My guessing is because..it drys quicker and you can grout after 3hrs(walls)and as GG says he finds it easier to wash of and finds it grips better....any other reasons?

Significantly cheaper per sqm, more versatile, and more reliable.

Re: adhesive
I have used bagged for quite a while now, one advantage is that it cement based and does not break down with water like most tubbed stuff does, I used some tubbed recently that the customer had bought, I found it slowed me down as the consistency was thick and stiff to work with, even though time is taken for mixing, bagged is far quicker for me.

Re: adhesive
Been using bagged addy for 90% of jobs, only using tubbed for splash backs. Like the rapid set flexi and mixing takes no time time at all. Each to there own i suppose.

Re: adhesive
What you lose in mixing time you more than make up for in time saved cleaning off afterwards in my experience.

Can't answer for your pricing situation, but I'll give you a comparison valid for my situation. I'll use MAPEI products as an example.
MAPEI Adesilex P9 25kg (bagged) 160kr (~£13)
MAPEI Ultraflex Mono 18kg (bagged) 300kr (~£25)
MAPEI Ultramastic III (tubbed) 320kr (~£27)
(Powder in kg plus amount of water in kg divided by the density of the mix in kg results in the volume, litres, of adhesive you get get from a bag)
One bag of P9 yields about 21,3L adhesive
One bag of Mono yields about 17,5L adhesive
One tub of Ultramastic III contains about 11,25L adhesive
That means:
One litre P9 costs 7,5kr (~£0,6)
One litre Mono costs 17,2kr (~£1,5)
One litre Ultramastic III costs 28,5kr (~£2,4)
P9 to Ultramstic III cost ratio: 1 to 4
Mono to Ultramstic III cost ratio: 6 to 10
As you can see, even if I use ultra high end MAPEI Ultraflex Mono, I still save 40% compared to using Ultramastic III, which in itself isn't bad (from what I've heard anyways, never tried it). If I use P9, which is still high end, I save 75%!
