Hi lads, when I grout I always recheck after a couple of hours if possible, usually I find thin crack lines in some of the grout which I then fill back in, why am I getting these?? and for consistant grout lines do you use grout tools or the old finger/sponge for finish??. Sometimes with fine wall grout it can shrink in a wider joint, a stiffer mix usually combats this happening....Gaz

Re: Grout choices???
If you add a polymer ( flexible) additive to your standard grout then it will make the grout more suitable for wider joints and less chance of shrinkage...or just by a flexi grout to start with...
Sometimes grout cracks because the water is sucked out from the porous body of the tile causing it to crack....but i tend to find when using a flexible one this doesn't happen..
And for those slightly wider joints then a coarser grade of grout should be used to prevent cracking as well......
Also if tiling with porcelain tiles then you will get cracks without a modified grout...
hope this helps...
