Default Mapei o dear o dear

Had the unpleasant experience of Mapei products being delivered wrongly to site today. Ordered Ardex but Mapei was delivered wrongly, 16 pallets.
"no prob all gear is "basically the same, does the same job" said the gaffer.

How wrong was we, Rapid set takes an absouloute age to go off and the grout goes off within seconds (even with a squirt of washing up liguid and sponging the tiles), the gear is useless!

Luckily getting the gear changed tomorrow, anyone use Mapei by choice?
    Why?!!!

The colder the temp is the longer it takes to set....mapeker rapid set 2-3 hrs set time at 20dgs...no that long a set time really but this will increase the same as all makes when its colder..

Mapie does take a while to go off, but you will prefer what you are used to. It was what i started tiling with and i like the extended set time.

IMO the Mapei adhesive takes a little longer but thats not a bad thing on some days. Obviously if you are wanting your adhesive setting within 2 hours then anything longer you would see as a downside. On a hot day the Mapei would be a bonus.
The Grout does set quicker than other grouts but once you use it a few times its great, mix smaller batches at a time.

Washing up liquid ....i think you have just ruined any manufacturers guarrantee you had.

Hi all, have used Mapei products for over 10 years without any problems.
As long as you use the right products for the right job, you shouldn't have any problems.
I don't use Mapei grout for walls though as it's too grainy, I use Ultra grout - excellent.

I use Keraquik all the time now. Yes, it is slower than other rapid sets, but after using Howtex SP rapid for years, I found I could only knock up a bit of it at a time, Keraquik gives me personally time to get things right for me. I struggle with their grout though!
