    Default adhesive info

hi,as a new tiler trying to learn the trade as quick as poss im finding the subject of adhesives quite "mind boggling". I have used "weber" products just to do a few splash backs in kitchens and bathrooms nothing major. Now i'm starting to get a few more bigger jobs that involve floors as well as walls.
Basically i would just like to know what you think of "weber" and what you would recommend.I apologise for all the questions but could you shed some light on these adhesives and what their for i have a general idea but would like to hear from the experts,so here goes..........

    1. high polymer adhesives
    2. rapid set adhesives
    3. cement based adhesives
    4. single part/two part adhesives
    5. fast flex adhesives
    6. single part/two part latex adhesives
    7. single/two part flexible adhesives

Apologies again for all the info needed but its a subject i need to be spot on with if i want to be making a living out of this. Thanks again everyone.

i use weber/ardex adhesives, they are of a very high standard. i use the spf rapid in white and grey, which is ideal for walls and floors. for the sake of the extra cost i'd just rather be on the safe side and use spf rapid all the time though they do a slow setting version as well. regarding your questions
    1) high in polymer just means adhesive or grout is flexible
    2) rapid set adhesives aprox 30 mins working time and can grout after 2 hours
    3) cement based adhesives contain cement
    4) Single part adhesives which in short is SPF (single part flexible) contain polymers which makes the adhesive flexible for limited movement e.g overboarded floors, under tile heating etc.. 2 part adhesives are more flexible and you can tile directly onto floorboards, chipboard, floating floors but to be honest i would always overboard and then use SPF or use ditra matting
    5) Fast Flex adhesive is a 2 part adhesive rubber crumb and can tile onto the same as above as a 2 part adhesive
    6) latex means liquid polymer that you add into certain adhesives to make it a 2 part
    7) as answer 4

i registered on webers website and they sent me a useful 200 page book which has a good problem and solution section on tiling, also i got info from ardex's website they sent me a usage calculator cd which is useful.

    hope this helps

Try the Mapei adhesive and grout ranges or BAL quality products and the BAL supercover is brilliant.
