    Default Outside Step...

We have just had a new door fitted and the step now looks a little out of place

I've tried the search function for answers and only came across a post from Dave with youtube videos but it doesn't work any more

I'm guessing that the adhesive and grout I have left over from my bathroom is no good for this job? single part flex and microflex

Also wondering about the fake slate ceramic tiles used outside?

Any advice on adhesive and grout, also if the tiles will be up for the job would be greatly appreciated

    Matt

Easiest solution in the short term is to paint it gery to match the plinth.
As for tiling, i wouldnt use ceramics outside, use porcelain or sealed natural stone.
Get an adhesive suitable for outside, check with your stockist, ideally waterproof, frost resistant etc, the grout should be similar and maybe with anti mould.

Hi Matt, single part flexi & Microflex are both suitable for exterior use. Make sure your fake slate tiles are frostproof. Quarry tiles or Porcelain are fine for outside, as are natural stone.....Gaz

Some Quarry tiles will be a good choice. You can still get the bull nosed ones for the front of the step.

Be sure not to block the drainage outlets on the new PVC door frame or you could have water coming in the house.

the only downfall about tiling your step is that it is flush with the brickwork and the tiles edge will be sticking out and might look unsightly

    Thanks for the replys

Looking at the packet theres no assurance that the tiles are frost proof

There is a PEI grading system that say they are for medium-heavy use, grade 3, and thats all

As it's only a small area to tile maybe i'll invest in some quarry tiles with a bull nose like David said

Gaz, i've got a couple of kg of white single part flex and a couple of grey, any problems mixing the two?

    Thanks guys

    That was a concern Brian

Just to edit this post, I was also concerned about the extra height so was thinking taking a little off the top! before tiling?

Mixing the dry powders well before you use it, and it will be fine....Gaz
