Default BAL FastFlex - is this the right adhesive on ply and for heat?

    Hi All,

Tiling onto marine ply around a range heating system, the current tiles (10x20) are coming away. Apparently the adhesive used was heat resistant, yet was only put on 6 mths ago and are already coming away.
There are hot pipes in one corner, closest to where the tiles are coming away.

Would BAL Fastflex be the best product to ensure that re-fixed tiles stay in place? If so, does anyone know a rough price for BAL Fastflex and who supplies it? I've about 1 sq yrd only to re-fix.

    cheers

Sorry Gaztech, my original post wasn't very clear. It's actually wall tiles above a range system that are coming away. Do you know if BAL Falsflex/Dunlop 2 part can be used on walls or any other suggestions for wall tiles?
I have a Dublin Contact for BAL, but will have to wait till Monday to call them.

Fastflex is not recommended on walls, BAL Flex is though, though it is very soft and I don't know how much initial "grip" it will have to hold the tiles in place.

Bal Flex is indeed the wall tile version of Fastflex. It has more cement in it which gives it none slip property. If i read your post right you are replacing tiles, therefore you dont need the support, so back buttered tiles would be ok. If you have a Bal supplier and don't need big bags, then Mosaicfix is available in 5kg bags.....Gaz

I've had a look at BAL Flex and BAL Mosaic Fix online, and I've still not 100% sure which is best to use. BAL Flex seems ok to use on plywood/chipboard, yet only has a temperature resistance of -30 to 60degrees C. Mosaic Fix dosen't say it is suitable for Plywood, but has a better temperature range of -30 to 100 C. The range system is basically on the whole time and gets very warm. I'm not sure if the 60 degrees max for BAL Flex would be high enough or if Mosaic Fix is OK to use on ply?
