I don't do site work but I always state on my estimates that new plaster/ p'board, render etc should not be painted, nor should p'board be skimmed.

Re: pain ters
When I've been on site some paint first and others tile on the walls first then paint while others get all the trades in one house to fight it out

Re: pain ters
most of the new build housing have dry lined walls, some of the dry lining companies pay their blokes to mist coat all the walls and ceilings as standard practice to seal the walls prior to painting ,the paiters are normally on such a tight price they blitz the rooms out with out even thinking always the same when you are doing such high volume work it doesnt help you when you have to tile it though! lol

Re: pain ters
while tiling a bathroom ,i once had a painter say do you think you will be long as i need to paint the ceiling ,i said yes m8 2days and after that you can do what you like. This was the same guy that walked all over my freshly layed tiles as he needed a dump and this was the only toilet on site in the middle of nowhere...trumpet.
I did inform the foreman who did absolutely SFA about it.
