What substrate are you tiling onto and what tiles........?.
Hi,Dave
Green chipboard which is solid its only a small area 1.6 m2 , the tiles are 8mm ceramic 300 x 300, i have a problem with depth and fixed ped and toilet.
thanks,

Can i ask why you think you need to use Ditra then..please..?..
Hi Dave,
I feel this may be the best way of reducing the depth as the customer does not want to have a step on the threshold, also the cuts round the Ped and toilet would look more acceptable.
if i had to lay 12mm ply and tile depth the cut on the ped ,toilet would be more profound in resorting to looking like the ped & toilet where buried in the tiles if you see what i mean, Just trying to give a more professional job with the Ditra.
Thanks

The Ditra will not add any strength to the floor as in deflection..it will only help for lateral expansion....i would just use the mapei combo if it is solid and suitable for chipboard.......
good luck.....

Hi dave,
thank you for that, I just want no come backs as the customer has had floor tiles crack prevously when a cowboy outfit layed straight on a wooden floor with no correct measures,
thanks,

I personally don't like tiling straight on wooden floors without some sort of sub-floor...have you looked at no-more ply or similar..?..

1.6m2 shouldn't really have any movement unless there is something seriously wrong with the floor, IMO. I would go straight down with Ardex-flex 7001 if it was me, it will do the job no probs.

Hi guys ,,
Thank you for all your advice, i will keep in mind the no more ply options.
many thanks.

Keraquick with the latex additive will give a good flexible adhesive suitable for wooden floors, much the same as Ardex 7001 on such a small area. I've used both with no issues.
Personally, I would stick and screw 6mm cement boards then tile on top of them with a flexible addy just for peace of mind - be lucky.
