Default 1st job

About to complete evening part-time ICA year1 tiling.
I have ideal 1st job at the weekend.
Kitchen splashback, about a foot high, 3walls around a kitchen on newly plastered walls.
Brown grout.
+customer that says "whatever you think will look the best"

2 questions -

1. The vertical tile join line where the 2walls meet (internal corner).
Unsure weather to use grout, or to silicon seal???

I have seen both done, (when I am in pub bogs, - you know what I mean)
But at college we just grout, but only because we don,t use silicons?

2. Would you use brown silicone to seal upto work surface or white (having used brown grout)

Thanks in advance

Definately silicone and usually a colour to match the grout if possible. Why brown grout as a matter of interest, brown tiles?

Un momento...

A guide to the usage and application of silicone

Don't think I said it in the guide, but in wall-wall angles, you generally want to match the colour of the silicone to the wall grout, and in wall-floor angles, you normally want to match the silicone colour to the floor grout.

Thanks chaps..
Customer hates white grout - cream tiles, thought brown grout may look nice and give it contrast... what do you reckon?

Sure, why not, but make sure to test it on a small area first and have the customer decide if they really want it or not. If they think it's too dark, you might want to try beige.
