Nothing wrong with Bal white star | I told him to goto a tile supplyer. For some reason he went there didn't buy anything & then went to b&Q & got this stuff. Apparently this stuff is £25 a tub the price i got for white star was £15.
Its really that bad then! He said its got a 10 year garentee. I was just going to just use it as an addy & get seperate grout.
Has anyone ever used this on these forums?

| Re: unibond adhesive & grout tubbed | | I have had to use this in the past due to the customer supplying it the unibond addy is ok for diy'ers but the addy and grout mixed is a load of rubbish like them all in my opinion |

Has anyone ever used this on these forums? | I tiled my kitchen floor with Unibond before I took tiling up as a profession. Down no more than 2 years. Started to crack after about 6 months and when I took it all back up to do it properly, I literally swept up the adhesive, very little scraping, as it had pretty much turned to dust! |

| Re: unibond adhesive & grout tubbed | | My Aunt asked me to tile their bathroom floor. Bought the tiles from a good tile shop then went to B&Q and got their finest tubbed flexi addy & grout in one. It was a wooden floor. I laughed when she commented the B&Q salesman said it was great stuff. Why do people buy tile stuff from a retailer known for selling lots of stuff cheep rather than a tile shop whose reputation is known for selling tiles?
I dont know what people think, she took the tubbed muck back and i used dunlop flexi porcelbond left over from another job. Ardex-flex grout and jobs a gudun |

Too right Davy.... someone told me Mapei was going to be stocked in B&Q as well cos it is cheaper than the Unibond stuff... maybe just a rumour

| Re: unibond adhesive & grout tubbed | | Explain to the builder that the job will take twice as long using the unibond. I used it on one of my first jobs ( it was supplied by the customer ), it took me all day to do half a bathroom which I should have been able to do in one day. I went back to the job on the second day and took my own addy, which was bal, and it took me an hour to do one wall which was a similar size to one of the walls it took me most of the previous day to do.
The unibond addy is that thin you will spend more time scraping it off the floor than you will trying to spread it on the wall. I found it was quicker to spread it onto the tile rather than onto the wall.
Good luck with your builder, play on the time aspect and he may see it your way.

| Re: unibond adhesive & grout tubbed | | Them 2 in 1 adhesive and grout combos are a waste of time. Whoever came up with the idea probably thought he was a genious, but its neither good adhesive or good grout. | | |
