Could the adhesive not have been wiped\removed when it was still wet ?

What sort of tile are they that have the adhesive on, glazed ceramic, natural stone, polished porcelain etc as depending on what tile type they are might dictate how easy\difficult it will be to remove.

The tiles are ceramic and the border is a natural stone mosaic.

The problem i had was that the mosaic was thinner than the tiles and so i had to use the adhesive to raise the mosaics to the same level. When i bedded the mosaics in, the adhesive seeped through the gaps, i cleaned them as well as i could but any pressure i put on them would cause them to sink below the level of the tiles.

The cheap tiles would have had to be wafer thin as the difference was'nt a lot just enough to make it look odd,
