| Re: Tiling floors.. 12mm ply help!!! | | This is correct, screw it down every 300mm and squirt some no more nails down as well, use 25mm lenght screws called turbo gold from screwfix so it doesnt go through and hit any pipework. The heigh can be offset by a door trim from any tileshop or diy shop | |

| Re: Tiling floors.. 12mm ply help!!! | | Hi Lee,
Depending on what type of tile you are laying, 9mm exterior ply would do the job just make sure the t&g boards are all securely fitted and you screw the ply down every 300mm aswell and use flexi adhesive and grout you dont want to be doing the job twice
good luck | | |

| Re: Tiling floors.. 12mm ply help!!! | | Hi Leeroy, welcome to the forums, if the height is an issue, you can always use hardi backer board or no more ply backer board, they come in 6mm thicknesses, the hardi is readily available at the likes of topps and no more ply is available at tile giant. It comes in 600 x 1200mm sheets. To fix use a polyurethane glue on the back and screw every 250-300mm, use plasterboard screws and countersink them..hope this is of use...Mark. | Plastering & Tiling Solutions. |

| Re: Tiling floors.. 12mm ply help!!! | | And with the board you are only fixing at 400 or 600 centres.
But remember to put down a bed of adhesive first |

All the previous posts are correct. However, if the floor boards are deffo tongue & groove and they are securley fixed you can tile directly onto them.
Please see an exert from Ardex brochure, below.... Existing tongue and groove floor boards of traditional construction should be screwed or ring nailed down to the joists to provide a rigidly fixed, flat and adequately braced surface. Any existing floor polish, wax, old adhesive etc., should be removed, e.g. by sanding to expose a clean surface prior to tiling.
The full brochure is, hopefully, attached. ARDEX-FLEX%207001.pdf | | |
