Hi

Doing a bathroom floor this week 3x2 . will be using 9mm ply as customer says 12mm will make floor two high(on to t/g flooring) using Bal addi can you guys tell me which is the best to use as i want to try grout the same day as the loo has to go back for when they get home...

BAL Fastflex Powder & Liquid

A two part, rapid-setting, sulphate-resistant, water-resistant and frost-resistant floor tile adhesive and isolating, anti-fracture underlay, suitable for use in interior and exterior locations. Suitable for fixing ceramic floor and porcelain tiles and mosaics (including fully vitrified), dark natural stone and slate. Suitable for use on tile backer boards, glazed tiles, concrete bases, cement:sand screeds, tongue & groove floorboarding, plywood overlay, floating plywood/chipboard floors, ceramic/quarry tile/terrazzo/hard natural stone bases, vinyl tiles/sheet, mastic asphalt, steel, glass reinforced polyester (GRP), steel and galvanised steel. BAL Wide Joint Grout

A water-resistant, frost-resistant cement-based powder grout designed for grouting ceramic floor tiles, mosaics, quarries etc. Also suitable for use on walls. Not recommended for soft glazed wall tiles, or tiles with metal decor or lustre. Suitable for use in interior and exterior locations in both wet and dry conditions. Suitable for swimming pools. Conforms to BS EN 13888, Type C, Class G1.

NOTE: The physical properties of BAL WIDE JOINT GROUT can be enhanced by the addition of BAL ADMIX GT1. The polymer admixture imparts flexibility, increases adhesion and reduces the water permeability thus widening the application possibilities of the grout, with a classification of BS EN 13888, Type C, Class G2.

Never used two part is it easy to use?

It is very sticky gear ......... keep it clean as you work...A bucket of nice hottish water helps the clean up...of tools......

Easy to use just pour liquid and add powder and mix til it's nice and creamy. The only drawback is if the floor is only 6m2 you might not use all of the 2 part kit so you might end up with either leftover liquid or powder, But still very good gear and fast drying too

You'll always pay a premium for the convenience of laying and grouting all in the one day. Well worth the coin IMHO.

Most companies produce a flex rapid set that should set within 3 hours, I know weber does as I use it all the time and loads cheaper than BAL. Maybe 'no more ply' would be better than your 9mm ply as it's more rigid and only 6mm thick.

Dave[/quote]Standard single part or rapid flexi will offer no manufacturers guarantee onto 6mm cement based boards on timber. Two part is the recommended unless your boards are a minimum of 10mm thick......Gaz

Never knew that Gaz, but I wouldn't know to be honest; I've never had a job fail :) not even looked into a guarantee for adhesive. Surely if there was a problem then it would be more likely the tiler at fault than the adhesive.

I've used 6mm hardie backer and had no problem's, I'ts all down to the correct preparations
