Tiling a kitchen, above the work surface is new plastered plastered board (gypsum based) that has been freshly painted with soft sheen emulsion over 70% of the area to be tiled. The remaining 30% is just unpainted new plaster.
NEVER PVA.
Use APD primer from Bal.

it all depends on the adhesive you use mate, bal recomend bal bond sbr or apd but aq lot of adhesives advise pva or sbr the staff at my local topps tiles backed me up on that this week. so just read the recomendations.

At the end of the day you will be wanting to put something on the walls before tiling and why take the risk. You may as well use APD.
Have you ever seen it written down "Do not use APD" ??? No i didnt think so.

i can not work this forum out you have it has recomended TOPPS TILES in past threads and now you r slating them. he seemed to know is stuff along with 3 other fitters who got into the conversation and all agreed BAL ARE 1 OF A VERY FEW THAT DO NOT RECOMEND PVA..SO I WOULD SUGGEST U ADVISE ON ALL PRODUCTS AND NOT JUST BAL.
sorry i did not mean you i meant the forum. it has recomended TOPPS TILES for advise and materials in the past.like i stated i use wat ever the manufacter recomends but mainly sbr but just saying a lot rec PVA .
I tell you what Floyd, on monday you call the tech advice of the adhesive manufacturers up and ask if they will send you a written guarantee that PVA is ok. I will be gobsmacked if they did.
