| Regrouting | | Hi there
Customer has existing tiling in hallway, although a cat has discoloured the grout. She would like black grout. How do I go about regrouting and then sealing the grout so this dosent happen again. Many thanks
Best Wishes

| Hi Howard,
You need to take out the old grout with a grout rake or a Fein mutimaster, clean everything up and then regrout with your chosen grout. Black might give you nightmares for cleaning though!!!!!! Be aware it is a really sh***y job though and you will more than likely damage tiles with the grout removal tools.
There are sealants you can buy for the grout. Have a look in Topps at Fila stuff I think or Seal-Guard - they have a spnsored link on this site, look at the bottom of the page.

| Thanks grumpy this website is ace! I know there only basic questions but Im making sure I do everything right. I envisaged taking the grout out. I have a fein multimaster so I might give it a go. It may well be as cheap to relay tile on tile. Im always going to recommend sealing grout to stop discolouration. Again many thanks to everyone for their help. | | |

| Re: Regrouting | | If the discolouring results from the catīs urine, it can smell terrible for a long time as the urine is deep in the grouts. I would be afraid that this will remain if the grouts are only recoloured, therefore I have the same opinion as grumpygrouter - regrout. | | |
