Hi All,

Something been puzzling me for a while now and it may be totally obvious but i just cant fathom it out, on the ready mixed tub adhesive there are two figures quoted for coverage one wet and one dry which is the lower but why would it differ if you were to put the same tile in a bathroom and in a kitchen surely the only difference on coverage should be the trowel size?

What does it all mean

would it be wet as in a solid bed not that bucket would be any good for a wet situation Pete

Why would bucket adhesive be no good for wet areas pjc ?

Surely, Bal Whitestar is excellent for heavy shower use.

Ignore which adhesive you should or should not be using for now..... that info for wet and dry is basically as it says...i.e kitchens etc ..dry area's..(less adhesive coverage needed about 70%.)...bathrooms/showers..wet areas.....( more adhesive coverage 100%)......hope this helps......

The size and body of the tile dictates which adhesive to use.... but some peeps like powdered gear for all tiling some don't....personal choice....

Yes trowel size and type will give different coverage.....

dh ceramics advice is spot to what the bal booklets would say, tubbed adhesives should be ok in a domestic shower, but powder is better if the tiles are of larger size and the shower usage is high.

Felkin i just hate the stuff i find it skins shrinks when it all changed 20 years ago from pva to acyclic just for the convenience of non-slip properties for builders & diy market we all had problems as i mitered it is no good above 3mm deep and you don't find many walls that flat if you have to pack windows or walls out deeper it shrinks and chips the miters also it can take for ever to dry especially on non porous surface 14 days or more if its deeper than 3mm could be never but i know there are more guys that love it than it hate thats what makes this a wonderful world Regards Pete
