Default Advice on Primer or Pva for a cushion floor/Lino

Hi everyone

Just looking for some advice on the best type of primer/Pva to use on a cushion or lino floor. The cushion flooring has been stuck down really well and won't budge there are no air bubbles or any sign of lifting anywhere.Have spoken to a couple of tilers in my area and they seem to think that I can tile onto this surface if I rough it up and apply Pva. Just wondering if there are any products out there that may be better suited than pva. I know its not ideal but trying to lift the cushion flooring would probably do more damage to the floor underneath. Also would you recommend using flex floor adhesive or normal rapid set? Appreciate any advice on this thanks.

rip it up and start from scratch mate. or tile it and wait for the tiles to come up within days. if you want to do a job do it right the first time

No to pva, I would'nt want to tile onto cushion flooring never like tiling over existing surfaces anyway IMO. If you do prime use sbr but would try and get cushion flooring up then use spf, But you don't say what tiles are being laid

No! deffo not tile on a cushion floor! Rip it up and start afresh. if it is vinyl tiles securely fixed then that is a different matter, but definately not cushion floor.

Cushionfloor or vynil sheet flooring is not recommended for tiling onto, it just isn't sound enough. Cut throught it with stanley knife and remove in sections, no manufacturer will recommend an adhesive that is suitable....Gaz

You could hire a machine to assist with the process.

A hot air gun works a treat on softening the adhesive on the vinyl sheet, so that it comes up easier.....

That sounds like a great idea! Have got a couple of weeks before the job starts so I may purchase a hot air gun or just hire one. Thanks again for the advice from everyone I always had this nagging doubt in the back of my mind about tiling onto cushion floor but you guys have just confirmed what I should really do.
