Default Tiling on top of existing tiles

I know it's been asked many times before and it's not the way forward but it probably is for this situation.

What's the best way to prep the wall before tiling over it? I was thinking of wiping it down with sugar soap and scoring the tiles so the addy can adhere to it.

I'd be grateful of some info

If you must tile over tile then personally I would tap all the old tiles to see if any sound hollow as that would suggest there isn't much adhesive coverage meaning less grip on the old tile.

If they all sound ok, then scrub down with sugar soap rinsing well afterwards, letting them fully dry then yeah score the old tiles as much as you can really if they are glazed, then I'd only recommend using a powdered adhesive so drying times are not affected, as tubbed adhesive might never dry fully in areas depending on new tile size.

Same as Fekin, when tiling over tile make sure you offset your new tiles with the ones your tiling on top of.
