| Re: I've had it with black grout !!!! | | it's the work of the devil. Doesnt' matter how often you clean your stuff or change the water it's manky! I add £100 to the price of the job for black grout as you need to replace all your grouting tools. The extra £100 is to try and price myself out the job. Not worked as i always still get the bloody job
I also personally think there a very few tiles that look good with black grout anyway

If you do have to use black grout etc that stains your grout float then don't throw it away..keep it and use it on the next black grout job ...why throw it away.?
Sponges cost pennies and wear gloves when gouting and washing off...
You are professionals for gods sake....we might not like using these messy grouts but we get on with it and turn out a good job....

If anything, just add on a bit extra to the estimate for using a messy coloured grout if you feel the need, but other than that, as you say, Im lost as to why people throw tools away just because they get stained.
Hell, I've even done a white grouting job straight after using my float on a black job.
Float was washed propperly and didn't get any transfer of the black onto the white. Quote: |
Hi there, I've come to measure up your kitchen..... ohh you want a dark coloured grout.... oh I only do white or Ivory......
| More work for us then | | |

You are professionals for gods sake....we might not like using these messy grouts but we get on with it and turn out a good job.... | ...........Which is exactly what I did Dave . The customer was delighted especially as this was the second time the job was done. A previous ' tiler' had made such a mess of the job that the tiles had to be removed & I re did it.
Still hate the stuff though

| Re: I've had it with black grout !!!! | | I have this week done my second black grout job for a customer. The first one was a kitchen splashback and the secong a bathroom floor. I used two different brands and they were both as bad as one another.
On the kitchen I did the initial clean down and the customer did the rest when it was fully dry. She moaned when I did another job inbetween about it taking her three days to get it fully clean. This time she apologised before I started so she will do the final clean down.
As everybody says the stuff gets everywhere and is almost impossibel to get off, you almost need tothing about redecorating the rest of the room after.

| Re: I've had it with black grout !!!! | | I have had no problem using black grout really. Biggest issue is getting it out of the bag without making a mess. Keep your float and sponge as a separate kit and only use it for black.
Cleaning off was not an issue as far as I was concerned. See pic attached. |
