Tile spacers - Tile Advice

I use 1mm 1.5 mm 2mm 2.5 mm rarely use 3mm unless working with BCT then I use them all at the same time.

we do not begin to show what we have, otherwise I go down to the garage and start the construction of a way down to uk. between rls, crosses, wedges etc etc. I think I get up to the sleeve. ahaha

Was it johnstone tiles which had the nibs on two sides instead of using spaces ? I remember tiling showers /kitchens in the early 90s with them on

Both H&R Johnsons and Pilkintons had lugs on the tile side for spacing. They then went to a sloped edge for spacing but of course this went against the principles of a joint so you still had to space them. Apart from matchsticks etc Homelux marketed the punched out plastic from their tile trims as spacers.
It was only when the continental tiles became popular that spacers made an appearance.

I tend to use 2mm walls 3mm floor
Minimum is 2mm on a floor !

I tend to start using 4mm and 5mm when I'm working with bigger tiles 1000x1000 due to the working size of a tile.

I use 2mm on walls and 3mm on floors, both depend on the quality and regularity of size of tile though.
Always use 3mm on planks on floor, although was asked to use 4mm on my last job, and looked really good with dark grout, helps with bowed tiles too.
