Please checkout the following advertisement.
if tile joint was 3mm yes, with me more likely to be 2mm so would leave a 2mm space .
nice metros Andy:) 2mm joint on them ?
Indeed .....but have always cut mine tight........got any pics with the gap you leave..?

pics, I doubt it as I avoid trim as much as possible.
not saying your wrong mate but my only issue with your method would be in a wet area, say shower niche and if a tight joint would stop water ingress

For me it varies depending on the tile, type of trim etc, but I try to leave a 0>1mm gap personally
