This may sound controversial. These systems remove a lot of the skill from our trade, anyone can use them in guessing and Prob get great results. Where does that leave the true craftsmen in our trade?? This really is the great leveller (unhappy face)

I doubt that they are that good to replace us. Everyone at some point tries tiling & the ones that give up, call us.
The DIY enthusiast cannot level the floor before tiling & so starts laying using this levelling system which in turn leaves hollowing = cracked tiles

Anyone can tile , earning a living from it is a different matter altogether.

Good Tiling - imho - requires skill , a good eye , feel , pride and attention to detail.

Gadgets only get you so far.

If anyone thinks that these systems make tiling easy are deluded.. no way on this planet can these systems make it easy for "anyone" to get a lippage free installation.. you have to have the skills of a good tiler to get the floor virtually lippage free to start with and then these systems are designed to take the last mm or less out of the equation or so they say so.. it is still down to the skill of the tiler using them..

Let's not get into a false statement that these systems will eliminate lippage for anyone using them ..

i just ask my self these 2 questions..

will it make the job easier
will it make it quicker

if no to the above, then i leave them alone.

I think these systems could help a bricky, plumber, builder, keen -amateur ,produce a job as good as any tiler, with-out them having to hone there skills , so IMO they could be yet another factor in giving other trade's /semi skilled,a hand in taking tilers works/jobs away from the marketplace ......BUT HAY thats what it's all about !!!! undermining all trades so the general masses can do there own jobs without having to employ a specialist ,the government have been doing this to us for years, just when it had got to a good wage standard for all in the construction industries the gov flooded the market with cheap foreign labour/health & safety stuff
the sparky s & plumbers have done the right thing by protecting there trades a bit......

I think that people generally who can afford to have aero tiler install their tiles for them they will take that option regardless of he availability of these systems. I think Pete appreiciate the general perception of craftsmanship in this type of area.

those who cannot afford to have their tiles installed professionally will benefit from these systems but really they are not your target market anyway.

Where I do think they could have some impact is on diversifying tradesmen. A plumber would be able to lay tiles or a general builder for example.

either way I think the threat is relatively low and you will have work for many years to come..... That is when people start building again

It is a great invention for sure however i would question the validity of the claims you can achieve 100% coverage full bed of adhesive after using this. Its impossible imo.

dont get me wrong, im not suggesting using conventional fixing method does ensure 100% coverage, as its very hard to achieve.

it would be interesting to do some sort of test using special scanning equipment to physically see what condition the bed of adhesive is in when using this, i think you would find a resemblance to the inside of an aero rather than a dairy milk... Sorry, only comparison i can think of.
