Hi I saw your wet room diary and it was a diiferent story from other threads I have seen on tanking. You say the room has to a rigid structure. Does that mean you only do wet room with concrete as a base. I noticed that you also use self leveling compound over the underfloor heating which makes good sense. What do you do when you have a traditional timber floor with floorboards?
You can construct wetrooms on timber and concrete substrates.....
all i was saying is it needs to be well fixed...

as for the leveling compound over the wire....only way to go..even heat distribution,no pulling on the wire when you need to lift a tile when tiling.....good eh!
----
p.s that wetroom is on a timber floor over floorboards!

Was tounge and grooved floorboards or the old style victorian floorboards. I wondered cos it looked flat and without any gaps. Did you use self levelling compound over the old floorboards or sheet over with 12mm ply cos the first shot it looks like concrete.

Ahh so you removed the floorboards and plyed oner the joists. (Sorry feeling a bit thick tonight.) Is that what you mean by recessed dropped joists.

Hmmm...

Ardex or Mapei on walls but Tilesafe on floors or plywood walls.

Not sure who I should vote for Dave!
