    Question Appropriate substrate

I have taken my bathroom back to brick and have yet to decide substrate.
The whole room will be tiled but the only "wet" area will be 2 walls at end of bath.

    main walls?
    -dot and dab moisture board?
    -moistutre board on timber battens?
    -sand cement, tile directly on?

    shower over bath walls?
    -sand cement, tile directly on?
    -plywood on timber battens?
-backer board on timber battens / dot and dab?
-moisture plaserboard dot and dab or timber batten?

what tanking if any is needed for shower at end of bath? The existing tiling was on plywood and when removed was dry as a bone with no sign of mould or damp ( was i just lucky).

Any advice / informed opinion welcome.

sand and cement is great prob is waiting time for it to dry for tiling , what tiles do u intend using , need to no for weight issues , think dot and dab will be your best option depending on your tile, deffo tank shower area
