Tanking, Waterpoofing bath?
Hi guys, I've got my 1st job tiling a bathroom 7m2. It is around the bath and they are putting in a shower. The question is do i need to tank or waterproof before i put up the tiles? and also i have advised to get Mapei rapid set addy and ultracolor grout.
Cheers Guys!

Re: Tanking, Waterpoofing bath?
Hi John, I havent seen them yet, but from the size he tried to make with his hands, they're probably around 200mm x 100mm i would have thought and the finished surface is skimmed.
Cheers and thanks for the reminder.

I'm gonna upload a couple of pictures now that i have something to contribute. Thanks to everybody who has helped on this forum!

Re: Tanking, Waterpoofing bath?
Hi Girl racer, i sure did. They ended up going for the Mapei aquadefense reccommended by Dave. Will always reccommend a tanking kit for any shower job i do. I would like to start off and maintain a proper professional service for my new career. The help i have received from the forum has been priceless. Keep up the gud work you guys and gals.

Re: Tanking, Waterpoofing bath?
Just to say...tanking is a great idea, and I use it a lot, but when I first started tiling as a youngster it was unheard of and just by using good quality adhesives and grouts from Ardex we never had any problems. Also tanking must be applied properly especially the Mapegum...too thick on each coat and it will peel off like a banana skin!! Good luck.
