The key phrase there is "direct contact". If your tiles are correctly installed the membrane is covered, particularly in a wet room situation where, i guess, this stuff is really designed to be used .
But if you were to use it in a situation where you might leave exposed edges then yes I can see it would be a problem, but then this stuff isn't really designed to be used like that, ie lapping over a bath surround.

No its not designed to be used like that I would agree. The problem I see here and experienced this last month. Impey and re-sellers are selling this to jo blogs diy, now if you are jo blogs and you have a spit or dont get your origarmi correct when making up your corners then you are going to pump it full of that silicone stuff, there is your problem. We all know how handy silicone is !!

The tilesafe kit does come with a tube of ultra sticky stuff for sealing corners etc, so there shouldn't be any need for silicon, but I do get your piont. Then again someone without the necessary knowledge or skills can mess up just about anything.
