Advise on fixing wedi to MR chipboard???
Help please. I have joined this forum for advise on installing a wedi fundo tray onto moisture resistant chipboard flooring. Adhesive suppliers have told me that there is no adhesive we can use to stick the tray down and we will have to overlay with ply or remove the flooring!! For obvious reasons I do not want to fix the tray with screws and washers! However I have a tiler friend who has suggested that BAL fastflex will stick anything to anything. Is this right, or do you guys have any other advise.

Thanks Dave, by glueing down do you mean with the bal fast flex? Can i then just cover the wedi washers with the wedi waterproof tape that i'm using to tank the corners and joints in shower area.

You can use any S1 adhesive as the screws will hold it down and the adhesive is to take up voids..
Personally i would tank the full tray then no worries of leaks..

Re: Advise on fixing wedi to MR chipboard???
Thats ture Dave but seems like more cost and extra work as the wedi tray is a tanked system anyway, there must be a product out there that sticks to m r chipboard?!

Re: Advise on fixing wedi to MR chipboard???
The fast flex will stick it.. but i am not a fan of sticking direct to chipboard directly with no fixings.. another alternative is to stick 6mm hardi backer down and again glue / screw it then fix the tray to that, then it will stick no probs..
