Default Looking for a liquid membrane

    Hi, my first post.

I'm tiling a bathroom and I'm looking to waterproof around the bath/shower area.
When removing the old tiles, I found that water had got through to the plasterboard and render.
The silicon seal seemed to be intact.
(The wall is plasterboard on the internal wall and brick/render on the external)
I don't want this to happen again.
Is there a simple/low cost liquid membrane that I can paint/roll on and then tile over?
How long does it take to dry?
    Where can I get it?

Or, is there any type of grout and adhesive that would make this unnessessary?
I'm looking to start a few projects, so may be on here regularly

    Thanks.

Thanks for the swift reply Mark.

Yeah, I've seen these kind of kits.

But they seem like overkill for what I need.

If that is what I need fine, I was just hoping for a simpler and cheeper alternative.

    Thanks though.

There are many manufacturers who make tanking kits
    Such as..
    Mapei
    Granfix
    Weber
    Bal
    PCI
    Ultra

    and more
All do the same job, some may differ in price

Don't worry my name is Mark

I would say if your going to do it then do it properly and make the investment now rather then later.

This kit is around £59.99 in Tile Giant and well worth the money in my opinion

    Thanks again.

Considering that I only need to waterproof 2 walls at around the bath, possibly only 1 tile up. Will these kits last several jobs?

used it lots of times on floors. Paul will be able to tell you if it would work on walls. No reason to think not though.
