Advice please re walls prep
Hello
All screeds for wet room are done ,the plasterer has asked me what do i want on the walls in the bathrooms of the new build ,
options are
1 Leave blockwork as it is and tile straight on
2 scratch coat and tile on
3 scratch and skim with key then tile
Which would be better for the tiler at the later stage
Help appreciated

Re: Advice please re walls prep
the best substrate to tile onto it is scatch and skim, the down side is the weight issue,if this is going to be a problem i would go straight onto the blockwork

Re: Advice please re walls prep
I agree with Jay, brickwork if fine to tile straight onto, the problem with it is that it is rarely flat enough to tile without covering it first.

Re: Advice please re walls prep
If they are large format i would avoid the skim as you could be over the safe weight limits.
