Question any know how to tile a wetroom floor?

hi. just taken on my first wet room tiling job and not sure if there are any things that i should be doing differently to tiling a floor normally. a tanking system is being put in and im going to double silicone the tiles as well to stop any leakage but how do i get the water to flow into the drain, it is located in the centre of the floor, do i just use cement to create a slight slope? any advice would be much appreciated thanks

Question Re: any know how to tile a wetroom floor?

if the floor has already been tanked ?it should already have the fall incorporated .all you have to do is tile to the floor this type of work is alot easier in mosaic . it can be done with
bigger tiles but you will need alot more experiance.

thanks for the input, the guy has already laid plywood and had a plumber do the drain, so i think i will need to make the slope myself somehow, is this reccommended or should i be telling him to lift the plywood and put in wedi or similar already sloped surface. the room has not been tanked but im going to that for him as well

You will struggle to make a decent job of the fall by building up with adhesive, amongst other problems you will end up too high for the rest of the floor, the floor should drop DOWN to the drain either by building a slope into the floor or by using a flush fitting preformed "former", such as an Impey Aquadec. Impey also do a tanking system called Tilesafe which is good. Be very cautious about a wet room and dont do anything you're not 100% sure about. Get it wrong and you're in big trouble.
